In psychotherapy, patients need to be able to easily record their psychic conditions during longer periods outside the therapy sessions. For this purpose, a set of ten pairs of emoticons was developed. The emoticons shall be used with an mobile phone application that enables the patients to quickly record their mental status by choosing between these emoticons. The emoticons had to be simple, gender neutral, black and white and understandable without text. The emoticons were developed in cooperation with Gregor Jenny and Marc Schreiber from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).
